Luxor |

is the most important city in Upper Egypt, since it was the dynastic capital of
the Middle and New Kingdoms of Egypt.
There is breathtaking desert scenery, and the beauty of the Nile. Luxor, with
its vast temples and royal tombs, is estimated to contain one third of the
world monuments of the Ancient Egyptian civilization.
Places of interest:
- The Temples of Luxor and Karnak are both awe-inspiring sights, and
it is also a good idea to visit at night, when there are Sound and Light
performances.
- The Valley of the Kings is situated behind the West Bank of Luxor.
It is the burial place of countless pharaohs of Egypt, including the 'boy king'
Tutankhamun.
Aswan
is just over 400 miles south of Cairo, and is considered to be the most famous
winter resort in the world, with a unique beauty of nature.
There are small islands covered with tropical plants, some of which are of very
rare species. The markets there are full of exotic spices, perfumes, rugs, and
handmade baskets.

- The Monastery of St. Simeon
- The High Dam and Lake Nasser
- The Kalabsha Temple built by the Roman Emperor Octavius Augustus and
